The session opens with the user's point of view. Naohiro Fujita (Univance Corporation) presents concrete examples of Python automation around Particleworks — scripted set-up, batch execution and post-processing — and the industrial cases where that automation has changed how the analysis work is organised.

Simulation is moving from a single-run activity to an automated, data-generating process. The second part shows how AI and scripting turn Particleworks into an engine that runs, monitors and post-processes itself — from parametric setup and design-of-experiments to automatic reporting.

We look at where AI genuinely adds value in a meshless CFD workflow: driving parametric studies, accelerating the exploration of the design space, extracting the right quantities from large result sets, and connecting simulation output to the engineering decisions that follow.

When a component is flexible, the flow shapes the structure and the deformed structure changes the flow. This talk presents how Particleworks models deformable bodies under fluid action, and what the coupling strategy means in practice for set-up, stability and computational cost.

Typical applications include flexible films and packaging, seals and membranes, wipers and blades, and compliant components in fluid machinery — cases where a rigid-wall assumption would miss the physics that matters.

Multi-Phase Flow: Methods for Air and Liquid Flow, with Use Cases

Many industrial flows are not liquid-only: air is entrained, trapped, compressed and released, and it changes what the liquid does. This talk reviews the modelling options available in Particleworks for air and liquid together — from lightweight approaches that account for the gas phase implicitly to fully resolved two-phase simulations.

Each method is placed against the question it answers, with use cases showing when the extra cost of resolving the air phase is repaid by the accuracy gained: aeration in gearboxes, filling and venting, sloshing with trapped air, and free-surface flows with strong gas–liquid interaction.

Coupling Particleworks with Granuleworks brings solid particles into the flow: powders, granules, abrasive media and debris that are transported, separated or that impact surfaces. This talk explains how the coupling works and which parameters govern the exchange between the fluid and the granular phase.

Applications span shot peening and surface treatment, separation and classification units, sediment and sand handling, mixing and coating of powders — with a look at how wear and coverage predictions are extracted from the coupled results.

Particle size drives both accuracy and run time. Multi-level resolution lets you spend particles where the physics happens — thin films, jets, gaps and impingement zones — and coarsen everywhere else, without giving up the free-surface detail the method is chosen for.

This talk covers the refinement strategies available in Particleworks, how to choose and place the refinement regions, the practical rules for keeping the solution stable across resolution levels, and the speed-up that can realistically be expected on GPU.

Iori Saigo (Prometech Software) joins for the restart capability: how a simulation is stopped and resumed, and how restart is used together with multi-level resolution to continue a run without repeating what has already been computed.

Conjugate heat transfer couples the thermal behaviour of the fluid with conduction inside the solid parts it touches — the key ingredient when cooling performance, not just flow distribution, is what has to be predicted.

This talk covers what version 9.0 brings to CHT modelling, how to set it up correctly, and where it pays off: e-motor oil cooling, piston and gearbox thermal management, machine-tool cooling and other applications where local temperature and heat transfer coefficients drive the design.
