Particle simulation and the GPU-computing explosion

Cheaper and faster: are simulations the future of design engineering?

Timetable: 15.00 - 16.00 CET
Speakers: Michele Merelli
Language: English

Particle simulation methods use inherently parallelizable algorithms. Because of that, they can leverage recent advances in hardware with Graphic Computing Units (GPUs).

The software side, developments like multi-resolution allow particle simulations to provide engineering insights earlier in the design phase.

In this keynote, we will discuss how, in our increasingly digital world, engineering is leveraging faster and simpler simulations thanks to mesh-less Computation Fluid Dynamics tools.

AGENDA

  • Introduction to Particleworks
  • The computing revolution
  • Practical examples of scalability of simulation times
  • Multi-resolution and adaptive particle size: introduction
  • Reduction of simulation times
