VEHICLE MANAGEMENT

A growing interest is found in the field of simulation for vehicle management, particularly when dealing with environmental interactions, like handling of water intake on flooded roads, factoring in the motion of the vehicle’s suspension. Contamination caused by wading through mud and snow under the car body is also of interest, particularly when dealing with fragile elements like battery pack covers. Whole-car simulations allow for the analysis of the effects of tire tread on water splashing, and the calculation of impact forces on sensitive car components. Moreover, it can help in the design of systems to prevent aquaplaning.

Particleworks is widely used to model car body interactions with athmospheric conditions:

  • Water intake in flooded roads (with vehicle suspension motion)
  • Wading contamination with mud and snow beneath the car body
  • Tyre thread effects on splashed water
  • Impact forces on sensible car inserts (i.e. battery cases)
  • Aquaplaning-preventing systems

Soiling and wading analysis with Particle Simulation. Thanks to the mesh-less approach, air (with integrated Lattice Boltzmann) and water, mud and snow accumulations can be analyzed. Water intake at radiator or complex, transient vehicle-vehicle aerodynamic interactions can be captured.
